IS INSPIRED BY ADVENTURE
My name is Marc, founder of XSpearience. With nearly 30 years of leadership in a variety of industries and settings under my belt, I built this consulting company to help CEOs, senior leaders, and managers create more impact in their businesses and enjoy the ride along the way.
One simple habit has changed my life and made this happen for me. Each November I go to my favorite coffee shop for a day of pondering within a list of categories: How would I live if I had no fear or bias? What kind of person do I want to be? What new things am I going to learn this year? What are my career goals? You get the drift.
During one of these sessions, I crossed off “career goals” and wrote “career adventure.” In truth, after years of a highly rewarding corporate career, I realized I’d developed a cynical attitude toward career goal setting. It had become…uninspiring. Yet my sense of adventure in my personal life inspired me tremendously: skiing, mountain biking, snow machining, road biking, expeditions, horsemanship, and more. And it struck me that day: Why don’t I bring the same adventure mindset to my career? So I made the shift – a change that has made all the difference.
